Malbim (Derech ha'Muskal): Other Nefashos, even though each Nefesh has good natures, they ate from Eitz ha'Da'as Tov va'Ra. Sometimes evil natures overpower and rule over it. Some conquer their Yetzer in old age, but not in youth - 'happy is our youth, which did not shame our old age 1 ' (Sukah 53a). A good Nefesh bestows only good, constantly, its entire life.
