Is this connected to what came before?
Rashi: Yes. One who gathers "Hon me'Hevel 1 " should not rejoice over it. Even if now it is in his hand, Tzadikim will inherit it, just the time did not come yet - everything has a time when it will come!
Mishlei 13:11. Magihah (in Toras Chayim) - it refers to wealth gathered in a forbidden way. (Perhaps it is any wealth gathered without need, which is Hevel and passes to others. Rashi cited the verse merely because it mentions Hon together with Hevel. - PF)
What is "l'Chol Chefetz"?
Rashi: Every matter. All things are called Chefetz in Mishnayos.
R. Avigdor: The Chefetz that Hashem had in Shamayim. Some say that it is Torah, and some say that it is Milah.
Metzudas David: All matters that man desires. Also this has times - sometimes man desires one matter, and sometimes its opposite.
Lev Eliyahu (Shemos p.148): There is time for Torah, and time for Tefilah (Shabbos 10a).
What does the verse teach?
Ibn Ezra #1: Researchers say that these times are Samuch to Adam (in the previous verse), for man must do everything in its time 1 .
Ibn Ezra #2: Everything under Shamayim has a proper time based on Mazalos. One born at the wrong time for birth, he will die. Some times are conducive to wealth, and some to poverty?
Rashbam: There are times of evil and of good, to pay to people according to their actions.
Rid: The Creator arranged times for all matters. There are different times for different matters.
R. Avigdor: There was a time for Adam to enter Gan Eden - "va'Yikach? va'Yanichehu v'Gan Eden", and a time for him to leave - "va'Ygaresh Es ha'Adam" (Bereishis 2:15, 3:24).
Seforno: One should not totally despise efforts to attain temporary life. However, he should not make all his efforts for them.
Metzudas David: Nothing comes by chance. Rather, everything is in its time due to previous causes.
Ibn Ezra: The beginning and end refute them. Man does not decide when to be born or die (2)! And it ends "[Hashem] did everything good in its time (11)!
Why does it say "Tachas ha'Shamayim"?
