What do we learn from "Chadashim la'Bekarim [Rabah Emunasecha]"?

1.

R. Avigdor, from Chagigah 14a and Bereishis Rabah 78:1 #1: Every day, angels are created from the Dinor river. They sing Shirah, and perish. However, it says "Shalecheni Ki Alah ha'Shachar 1 " (Bereishis 32:27)! That was Micha'el and Gavriel, supreme Sarim, who persist 2 .

2.

Rashi: Hashem's Chesed is renewed each morning.

3.

Ibn Ezra: Hashem's Chesed (or perhaps, His mercy) is new every day. "La'Bekarim" is like "la'Bekarim Atzmis" (Tehilim 101:8).

4.

Ri Kara: The Chesed that we were not finished amidst the nations, is renewed every day. In every generation they rise against us to eradicate us. Hashem's Chesed saves us from them.

5.

R. Avigdor from Bereishis Rabah 78:1 #2: Since You renew us in the morning of kingdoms, we know that You are faithful to redeem us.

6.

R. Avigdor from Bereishis Rabah 78:1 #3: Since You renew us every morning when we awaken, we know that Your faithfulness is great to revive the dead 3 .

7.

Vilna Gaon (Mishlei 3:19): It says "b'Chachmah Yasad (past tense) Aretz Chonen (present tense) Shamayim bi'Svunah" (Mishlei 3:19). The land was made with Chachmah, "v'Ein Kol Chadash Tachas ha'Shamesh" (Koheles 1:9). In Shamayim, there are new Chidushim via Tevunah - "Chadashim la'Bekarim" (Eichah 3:23), ha'Mechadesh b'Chol Yom Ma'ase Bereishis.

8.

Palgei Mayim #1: I see new Chasadim each morning - You increase Your faithfulness to me, and support us lest we regress due to the great afflictions.

9.

Palgei Mayim #2: Each morning You do new miracles - this increases Your faithfulness to me.

1

Rashi (on the Midrash): That angel already existed from night, and he needed to sing Shirah! Yefe Anaf (on Eichah Rabah 3:8) - it was Esav's Sar, and he still exists!

2

R. Avigdor: This is difficult. Why would Micha'el (Yisrael's Sar - Daniel 10:21) want to stop Yakov?! Etz Yosef (on the Midrash) - the angel was like Micha'el and Gavriel, Sarim that persist. Or, the Sar was Micha'el or Gavriel - he wanted to show Yakov that he need not fear Esav. (If so, why did he wound Yakov's thigh? - PF) Eshed ha'Nechalim - Gavriel fought Yakov, and Micha'el helped Yakov.

3

Michtav me'Eliyahu (5, p.456): Sleep is a 60th of death. One should be weak after waking from sleep! Strength comes from above. Also death itself brings renewal for Techiyas ha'Mesim.

2)

What do we learn from "Rabah Emunasecha"?

1.

Rashi: Your promise is great 1 , and it is a great matter to trust in You to fulfill what you promised to us.

2.

Ibn Ezra #1: Rabah is an expression of grandeur, like "Al Kol Rav Beiso" (Esther 1:8).

3.

Ibn Ezra #2: Rabah means large.

1

Ri Kara: "V'Af Gam Zos bi'Hyosam b'Eretz Oyveihem Lo Me'astim v'Lo Ge'altim Lechalosam" (Vayikra 26:44). This stood for our fathers and for us, that the kingdoms did not eradicate us.
