Why do the verses keep repeating "the [gold] image that Melech Nebuchadnetzar set up"?

Malbim: This shows that the primary intent was for like the image that he saw in the dream. Gold hints to Melech Bavel. It repeats Melech Nebuchadnetzar, that his kingship should remain forever.
