What is the meaning of "va'Yiten Alav Hod Malchus"?

1.

'Rashi': He gave to him Chen (grace) of kingship. This is like "v'Nasatah me'Hodcha Alav" (Bamidbar 27:20). All said that he is proper. In Daniel (11:21), it says "v'Amad Al Kano Nivzeh v'Lo Nasnu Alav Hod Malchus."

2.

Radak: The entire nation feared him and elevated him. It says oppositely in Daniel (11:21) "v'Lo Nasnu Alav Hod Malchus."

3.

Malbim: Hadar Malchus is external - he is glorified in front of the nation via wealth and a great army. About this it says "va'Yagdel Hashem Es Shlomo l'Ma'alah l'Einei Kol Yisrael." Hod is an internal, personal matter - if he is full of a spirit of judgment, humility, justice, mercy, compassion, Chachmah and understanding.
