Rashi: It teaches us that the land will rest the number of years corresponding to the seventy Sh'mitos and Yovlos 1 that they broke.

Rashi: During the period of four hundred and thirty-six years that they sinned - three hundred and ninety until the exile of the ten tribes, and forty that Yehudah continued to sin, until the prophesy of Yechezkel - which took place six years before the Churban.
