What is the meaning of "bi'Dmei Bnei Yehoyada"?

1.

'Rashi': It is due to the blood of Zecharyah ben Yehoyada. Because he did not appreciate the good that Yehoyada did for him, his servants killed him on his bed. This was Midah k'Neged Midah. Just like Zecharyah was killed amidst confidence that he is safe, for they will honor him due to his father, so Yo'ash was killed amidst security on his bed.

2.

Radak #1: Perhaps when they killed Zecharyah, they killed also Yehoyada's other children.

3.

Radak #2: Perhaps Zecharyah was Yehoyada's only child [at the time]; Yehoyada's other sons and daughters (verse 3) had already died 1 . "Bnei" can refer to one son - "u'Vnei Dan Chushim" (Bereishis 46:23).

1

This is not surprising, for this was after Yehoyada died at the age of 130 (verse 15). (PF)

2)

Why was he not buried in the kings' burial site?

1.

Refer to Melachim II, 12:22:2:1-2.
