Why does it say "Ki Lo Na'aseh

1.

Radak: This is the reason for the narrative 1 . It is because they did Pesach like Yoshiyah commanded them and they all gathered to Yerushalayim. Divrei ha'Yamim II, 35:1-18 tells it at length. The end of the story is, there was no Pesach like this [since

1

Radak: The same applies to "Ki Nasan Hashem b'Yadeinu Es Kol ha'Aretz" (Yehoshua 2:24).

2)

Why does it say that there was no Pesach like this from the times of the Shoftim?

1.

Rashi #1: So many people did not gather for Pesach from the days of Shmuel 1 . Also he returned Yisrael in Teshuvah and gathered them to Mitzpah.

2.

Rashi #2: There was no Pesach like this in Yerushalayim from when Malchei Yisrael and Malchei Yehudah ruled 2 , that all of Yisrael came to Yerushalayim. The kingship was split from the days of Yaravam, and [the 10 tribes] went to the calves in Beis Kel and Dan. Now that the 10 tribes were exiled and Yirmeyah returned them and Yoshiyah ruled over them, they all came to Yerushalayim.

3.

Radak: All Yisrael had one heart to serve Hashem. So it says in Shmuel I, 7:2, 4, "va'Yinahu Kol Beis Yisrael Acharei Hashem", "va'Yasiru Bnei Yisrael Es ha'Be'alim v'Es ha'Ashtaros va'Ya'avdu Es Hashem Levado." Also the Pesach that Chizkiyah did, many of Yisrael were not there, and they insulted the Ratzim that Chizkiyah sent (Divrei ha'Yamim II, 30:10), and many of those in Yerushalayim were Tamei, and ate Pesach b'Tum'ah.

4.

Malbim citing Mahari: It was not done in Taharah, with eradication of idolatry and removal of the Bamos until that time. In the days of Sha'ul and David there were Bamos in Yisrael 3 , and also in the days of Shlomo, until Chizkiyah. In the days of Chizkiyah, some insulted his Sheluchim and did not offer Pesach.

1

Refer to 23:22:2:1.

2

Why does it mention the Shoftim? Shlomo was after the Shoftim, and in his days all came to Yerushalayim! (PF)

3

Bamos were permitted in their days! Perhaps he means that some offered Pesach on private Bamos, which is forbidden (Megilah 1:10); they were loathe to go the Mishkan due to the behavior of Bnei Eli. (PF)

3)

Here it says that that there was no Pesach like this from the times of the Shoftim. In Divrei ha'Yamim II, 35:18 it says from the days of Shmuel ha'Navi!

1.

Radak: These are the same. Shmuel was in the days of the Shoftim, and in his days the kingship in Yisrael began.
