QUESTIONS ON RASHI

7)

Rashi writes that the horses were to go to greet the sun in the morning. Why did they need to go? One can bow to it wherever he is!

1.

Radak: They would go to the entrance of Beis Hashem (Targum Yonasan), to Lishkas Nesan Melech, to greet it at sunrise 1 .

Perhaps this was the place from which sunrise could be seen. I.e. it was virtually the highest place in Yerushalayim, and the walls of Beis Hashem did not block the sun. (PF) Malbim - the chamber was in the east, for "their backs faced the Heichal, and they faced east" (Yechezkel 8:16).
