1)

In Pasuk 5, Yisrael spoke against "Elokim", why did they now declare "Ki Dibarnu ba'Hashem"?

1.

Oznayim la'Torah: Because whereas before they focussed on what they considered the harmful element of the Manna, they now realized that even that element stemmed from the f Hashem's Midas Rachamim. 1

Refer to 21:15:2:1**.

2)

"Veyaser me'Aleinu es ha'Nachash". Why did they say "es ha'Nachash" and not 'es ha'Nechashim' - as in Pasuk 6?

1.

R. Bachye: To hint at the Heavenly Nachash, 1 the Power that kills, the angel that rules in the desert - the habitat of venomous snakes.

2.

Targum Yonasan: It refers to the plague of snakes.

1

R. Bachye: Which explains why th Torah writes "Veyaser me'Aleinu" - like it does in 14:9 - "Sar Tzilam me'Aaleihem" (Refer to 14:9:4:4) - and not 'Veyaser mimenu'.

3)

"Va'yispalel Moshe be'Ad ha'Am". What can we learn from Moshe's reaction?

1.

Rashi and R. Bachye: We can learn that, when someone asks for forgiveness, one should banish all feelings of resentment and pardon him (immediately), 1 and if he doesn't, he is called a sinner. 2

1

R. Bachye: Like we find in Bereishis 20:17, where Avraham forgave Avimelech immediately, and in Iyov 2:10, where Iyov Davened on behalf of is friends.

2

R. Bachye: As Shmuel told the people - in Shmuel 1, 12:23.
