How is His left hand under her head?

1.

Rashi: This was in the Midbar.

2.

Seforno: It should be under her head to raise her.

3.

Malbim (Melitzah): The verse depicts that Shlomo's Nefesh clings with supreme Ru'ach - "Yishakeni mi'Neshikos Pihu" (1:2). Smol is Hashem's conduct via nature; His wonders are called Yemin in Tanach. Also what the Nefesh attains via Nevu'ah is called hugging it with the right hand. This corresponds to "Samechuni ba'Ashishos" (4). What one attains afterwards via investigation is His left hand under her head - "Rafduni ba'Tapuchim" (4). It is in place of Kodesh understanding via Ru'ach ha'Kodesh. It mentions the left first, for Nevu'ah rests only on one who is prepared for it with Chachmah and Yir'as Hashem.

How does He hug her with His right hand?

2.

Seforno: The right hand of His virtue to save should embrace her with salvation.

3.

Malbim: Refer to 2:6:1:3.
