What is the meaning of "Yachush"?

1.

Rav Sadya Gaon: He will feel.

2.

Ibn Ezra, Rashbam, Ri Kara: He will hasten [to fulfill] all his desire. This is like "Meherah Chushah" (Shmuel I, 20:38). Ri Kara - I should hasten to eat them, before they fall to others.

3.

Metzudas Tziyon: It is an expression of Chashash (concern), like it says in Chazal's words 1 .

1

The only places we find the root Chashash in Tanach (Yeshayah 5:24, 33:11), they refer to straw. (PF)

What is the question?

1.

Rav Sadya Gaon: Who will [eat] and feel benefit [of my toil], if not me?! Rashi - therefore, why shouldn't I rejoice in my portion with food and drink?

2.

Ibn Ezra: This is said in astonishment. One who toils to gather money, and does not eat as much as he desires - why doesn't he think who will eat it, other than him?! Is anyone else more proper to eat it?

3.

Seforno: In this way (I will consume my toil), it will not be for someone else at all.

4.

Metzudas David: This is connected to above. It is from Hashem to think so (it is most proper that I consume my toil), lest it be lost.

3)

Why does it say "Chutz Mimeni"?

1.

Rashi: It is the Midah of a Rasha to gather [acquisitions] for the sake of others 1 .

2.

Koheles Rabah (2:25, partially cited in R. Avigdor): Who ate, drank, and did like I did?! Shlomo had a Nesher (eagle - refer to Mishlei 30:17:3:1**) on which he rode. He came to Tadmor in the Midbar and returned the same day.

1

The Rasha does not intend for others (refer to 2:26:4:1).
