Why did he mention that the Bayis will be big?
'Rashi': This is why I ask you to send from your building 1 .
Shlomo requested that they cut cedars and send them, but not to take from Chiram's buildings! Perhaps 'Rashi' means 'from what you could have used for your building.' However, also in verse 3, 'Rashi' mentioned sending a strong building! Perhaps 'building' refers to tying the logs together to make rafts that float, which Chiram sent on the sea (Melachim I, 5:23). Would it not be better to make a smaller Bayis, and not need others' help?
'Rashi': Our G-d is greater than all gods, therefore I cannot diminish His house. 1
Why is a reason needed? "Ha'Kol bi'Chsav mi'Yad Hashem Alai Hiskil" (Divrei ha'Yamim I, 28:19; Hashem gave the dimensions of the Mikdash; we cannot change them! ? Zevachim 33a) (PF)
