Did Sheshan free Yarcha before he married his daughter to him?

1.

'Rashi' and Radak (34), from Pesachim 113b: Yes. This is a source for 'if your daughter became a Bogeres 1 , free your slave and give her to him.' Radak - Yarcha was part of the household, like Eliezer Eved Avraham. His name backwards is the letter Ayin (this stands for Eved) Chari (freed). The marriage was forbidden mid'Oraisa - a Mitzri convert may not enter Kahal Hashem!

2.

Malbim (34): Via giving his daughter to him, automatically he freed him, like one who married a Bas Yisrael to his slave. However, he was a Mitzri convert, who may not marry a Bas Yisrael 2 .

1

Sanhedrin 100b: When a girl turns Bogeres, her father fears lest she not get married. Above (ibid. 76a) it says to marry off your daughter before Bagrus due to "Al Techalel Es Bitcha Lehaznosah" (Rashi - she lusts for Bi'ah, and she will be Mezanah).

Normally, we assume that he freed his slave, for he does not want to make a forbidden marriage. Since here in any case the marriage is forbidden, perhaps he did not free him! (PF)
