1)

Why does the Torah insert the (otherwise superfluous) words "B'nei Aharon"?

1.

Kidushin, 36a: To preclude women from performing the Kemitzah.

2)

What do we learn from the Torah's juxtaposition of "ve'Kamatz" to "ha'Kohanim (in Pasuk 1)?

1.

Rashi: It teaches us that from the Kemitzah and onwards must be performed by Kohanim. 1

1

Refer to 2:2:151:1-2.

3)

What are the implications of the word "mi'Sham"?

1.

Rashi: It implies that the Kohen takes the Kometz from the location where the owner is standing 1 - anywhere in the Azarah, 2 and does not require 'Tzafon'.

1

See Torah Temimah, note 12.

2

Even in the eleven Amos where Yisre'elim normally go.

4)

What does the Torah mean when it writes "M'lo Kumtzo"? How will we reconcile this with the Pasuk in Tzav, 6:8 "Veheirim mimenu be'Kumtzo" (implying only part of the Kohen's fistfull)?

1.

Rashi and Rashbam: "M'lo Kumtzo 1 " comprises exactly what fits into the Kohen's palm - inside the three middle fingers (of his right hand, when they are closed over his palm), no less and no more. 2

2.

Menachos, 39b: We learn from the two Pesukim that the Kohen should take the flour with his fist and not with a measuring implement. 3

1

Riva: Rashi said that "Kumtzo" is a Hebrew word, since in Aramaic, it means a cavity. Moshav Zekenim citing the Rosh - in Aramaic, it is a K'li.

2

As the Torah indicates in Tzav, 6:8. Any flour that protrudes, the Kohen must remove, using his thumb and little finger (Rashi). See also Torah Temimah, note 13.

3

See Torah Temimah, note 14.

5)

What are the implications of "mi'Soltah u'mi'Shamnah"?

1.

Menachois, 27a: It implies that if the smallest amount of the Shi'ur of flour or oil goes missing, the Korban is Pasul.

2.

Sifra: It implies "mi'Soltah", 've'Lo mi'Soles Chaverta' - If two Menachos get mixed-up, if one is unable to take a Kometz from each Minchah independently, the Minchah is Pasul.

6)

What are the implications of "al Kol Levonasah"?

1.

Rashi: It implies that the Kometz must be full without the Levonah.

7)

What are the implications of "M'lo Kumtzo" mi'Soltah u'mi'Shamnah"?

1.

Rashi: It implies that the Kometz may contain only the flour and the oil, and that if it contains even one grain of salt or Levonah, it is Pasul.

8)

Why does the Torah juxtapose "Levonasah" to "ve'Hiktir"?

1.

Rashi: To teach us that the Levonah too, is burned on the Mizbe'ach.

9)

Why does the Torah refer to the Kemitzah as "Azkarasah"?

1.

Rashi: Because it is via the Kometz that the owner is remembered for the good and is favored by Hashem.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

10)

Rashi writes that from Kemitzah and onwards is incumbent upon the Kohanim. But Hagashah and Tenufah precede the Kemitzah, yet they require Kehunah?

1.

Ramban and Moshav Zekenim (citing the Rosh); Chazal are referring to the Avodos mentioned in the current Pesukim (pouring the oil, placing the Levonah, bringing it to the Kohen and performing the Kemitzah), and not to Hagashah and Tenufah, which are not mentioned here.

2.

Moshav Zekenim: Because the rule applies only to what is crucial to the Kaparah, which Hagashah and Tenufah are not. 1
