From which path did they veer?
Radak: From the path of the first Kohanim.
Malbim: The path that the proper ones went on, what pertains to himself.
What is the significance of "Hichshaltem Rabim ba'Torah"?
Radak: This is the opposite of "v'Rabim Heshiv me'Avon" (6).
Malbim: You should have straightened the nation, to teach to them Hashem's Chukim. You made them stumble via your rulings!
What do we learn from "Shichatem Bris ha'Levi"?
Bechoros 26b: If Kohanim, Leviyim or poor people help in the pen, granary or slaughterhouse (in order to receive Matanos), we do not give to them Terumah or Ma'aser (Rishon or Oni), nor Bechoros, foreleg, jaw and stomach. If one gave to them, he profaned the gifts.
Malbim: Bris ha'Levi was about these two matters (what pertains to himself, and teaching others). You corrupted both of them!
