What is the meaning of "Sach"?

1.

Rashi: It is an expression of closing, like "Haser Mesukaso" (Yeshayah 5:5), "ki'Mesuchas Chadek" (Mishlei 15:19). Radak ? it is like "Sachta Va'Ado" (Iyov 1:10). The verse uses this word because it is like Sichim (thorns); it is common to make a fence in a field or vineyard from thorns.

2)

What is "Darkech"?

Rashi: The paths on which you go.

3)

Why does it add "v'Gadarti Es Gederah"?

1.

Malbim: Even after I closed the big path, she has a place to speak with adulterers where the wall is breached; I will fence it.

2.

Malbim (according to the Nimshal): Hashem will put hatred between Yisrael and the neighboring nations in which she trusted to help her, and she learned from their deeds and carved a Bris with them. He will fence her so she cannot go out to them to join to them and mix with them.

4)

Why does it add "u'Nesivoseha Lo Simtza"?

1.

Malbim: She still had narrow paths to go to adulterers. I will ruin them so she cannot go on them; she will be locked up, to separate her from the adulterers.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

5)

Rashi writes that Hashem will close her paths. How will He do so?

1.

Radak: They cannot leave the city due to the sword. It is as if it is covered with thorns and enclosed within a stone wall. She will not find the paths on which she used to go. This is like "Gadar Derachai b'Gazis Nesivosai Ivah" (Eichah 3:9).

2.

Malbim: Hashem will try to return her to Himself like a husband tries to return his wife who is Mezanah under him. She has a great path on which she goes every day to adulterers ? he seals it with thorns, so she cannot go on it.

3.

Malbim (according to the Nimshal): Hashem will change the order of the Ma'arachah and its officers. He will fence so it cannot influence good and success on her, and ruin all actions, Segulos and ways of drawing influence and Brachah.
