Rashi: When Hashem brought all the animals for Adam to name, He brought them in pairs, male and female. When Adam complained that all the animals have a partner except for him, Hashem immediately, caused him to fall asleep (in order to create Chavah). 1

Gur Aryeh: Otherwise, why would the Torah describe Chavah's creation specifically at this point? [We learn that it was through naming the animals that Adam realized that he was lacking a mate.]
