Targum Yonasan: They turned (the verse does not say who turned them). Radak - it seems that in Yonason's text, there was a Tzeirei under the Yud, unlike the Mesorah, which says that twice, va'Yat has a Patach under the Yud - here and "va'Yat Aleinu Chesed" (Ezra 9:9).
