QUESTIONS ON RASHI

Rashi writes: "Ho'alti - I wanted." Why didn't Rashi comment above, the first time Avraham used the word Ho'alti (18:27)? Also, Rashi to Devarim 1:5 seems to explain differently.

Gur Aryeh: In Devarim 1:5, Rashi explains Ho'il as "to begin," and writes that this is what it means above (18:27) as well. But our verse is not at the beginning of Avraham's requests, so Rashi explains it here as "to want." Nor can "Ho'il" in 18:27 mean "to want," for each of Avraham's requests was distinct.
