1)

Who should they send, and who will tell David?

1.

Radak: Yehonason and Achima'atz, who were outside the city. They will tell David.

2)

What is the meaning of "Al Talen"?

1.

Kli Yakar: Do not spend the night in Arvos ha'Midbar.

2.

Malbim: David should not spend the night amidst the people.

3)

What should they cross?

1.

Rashi: They should cross the Yarden.

4)

What is the meaning of "Yevula la'Melech"?

1.

Rashi: It will be told covertly to Avshalom [that my counsel was not good, and he will follow Achitofel's counsel].

2.

Mahari Kara, R. Yeshayah: David [and the men with him] will be destroyed. This is like "Lamah Sevala Nachalas Hashem" (20:19) (Radak - or "Im Yeval'enu mi'Mekomo" (Iyov 8:18).)

3.

Targum Yonasan: Yis'hani l'Malka. Radak - I do not understand his intent. 1 Kli Yakar - perhaps he explains Yevula to be an expression of Beliya'al. When one swallows something pleasant, he enjoys it. The king should not enjoy my words [and think that he and his men can rest tonight without concern].

4.

Ralbag #1 (according to Kli Yakar): David and his men should gather and resolve what to do. 2

5.

Ralbag #2: They will kill the king's (David's) wives and children. He did not say the king himself, due to David's honor, or lest he give an opening to the Satan (people's words are often fulfilled).

1

Yayin ha'Tov: Something [bad] will happen to David. (This is reasonable from context, but Yis'hani always refers to benefit. - PF)

2

I do not understand how he explains "Pen Yevula" (PF).
