What are the implications of the words "Al Hashem"?

1.

Rashi: It implies that their quarrel was not against them - Moshe and Aharon 1 - but against Hashem, since Moshe's appointment of Aharon as Kohen Gadol was at the behest of Hashem.

2.

Seforno: Moshe was warning Korach that he was casting his lot on Hashem - that He would defend his and Aharon's honor.' 2

1

According to Rashi, it is not clear why the Pasuk says "ve'Aharon Mah Hu", and not 've'Nachnu Mah'?

2

Seforno: And that he (Moshe) was declining to do so himself.

2)

What are the connotations of "Atah ve'Chol Adascha ha'No'adim al Hashem ... "?

1.

Ramban #1 (according to Rashi): 'You and your congregation, who are assembling with you, it is against Hashem that you are assembling and not against Aharon'. 1

2.

Ramban #2 (citing the Ibn Ezra): The 'Hey' is redundant, and the Pasuk reads 'You and your congregation are grumbling against Hashem ... '.

3.

Ramban #3: With reference to Pasuk 7, Moshe is saying 'You and your congregation, who are assembling against Hashem and not against Aharon, appear before Hashem tomorrow.

4.

Oznayim la'Torah: The gist of the current Pesukim - 9-11 is that since, on the one hand, the B'nei Levi conceded that Hashem chose them to serve in the Mishkan in their capacity as Levi'im, and on the other, Korach conceded that his family of K'has was chosen to carry the holy Keilim, the Levi'im should admit that Hashem chose the Kohanim to bring Korbanos on the Mizbe'ach, and Korach, that Hashem chose Aharon to be Kohen Gadol - and that that choice had nothing to do with Aharon.

1

Ramban: It is a 'short Pasuk', incorporating something that is self-understood.

3)

Why did Moshe insert "Atah ve'Chol Adascha" since he already began addressing them above in Pasuk 5?

1.

Ramban: Because in Pasuk 8, he addressed Korach exclusively, he needed to reintroduce them into his instructions.

4)

Why did Korach not answer Moshe?

1.

Hadar Zekenim: Korach was an astute Rasha. He knew that Moshe was a great Chacham, and that, if he were to answers him, he would refute him, and he would be forced to accede.
