1)

Why does the Torah add the word "ve'Chol Adam Lo Yih'yeh be'Ohel Mo'ed"?

1.

Torah Temimah (citing Yerushalmi Yoma, 1:5): To include angels 1 in the prohibition.

1

About whom the Pasuk in Yechezkel, 1:10 says "u'Demus Peneihem P'nei Adam" (Ibid).

2)

Why does the Torah insert this Pasuk here, and not after the Kaparos on the Mizbe'ach ha'Ketores in Pasuk 18?

1.

Oznayim la'Torah: Because, seeing as the Haza'os in the Kodesh Kodashim and on the Paroches atoned for the people, the Torah is negating the obligation of a representative standing by the Korban when it is brought (Ma'amados), 1 as opposed to the Haza'os on the Mizbe'ach ha'Ketores, which atoned for the Mizbe'ach itself . 2

1

See Oznayim la'Torah.

2

Oznayim la'Torah: As the Torah writes there specifically.

3)

Which Avodah is the Torah referring to?

1.

Yoma, 44a: "Vechiper Ba'ado u've'Ad Beiso u've'Ad Kol K'hal Yisrael" can only refer to the Ketores, since it is the only Avodah that applies equally across the board. 1

1

See Torah Temimah, note 75.

4)

What is the definition of "be'Ohel Mo'ed"?

1.

Yoma, 44a: It incorporates the Kodesh and the Kodesh Kodashim, but precludes the Azarah.

5)

Why does the Torh insert the (otherwise superfluous] word "Le'chaper ba'Kodesh?

1.

Yoma, 44a: To incorporate Mishkan Shiloh and the Beis-Hamikdash in the current prohibition.

6)

Why does the Torh insert the (otherwise superfluous] words "be'Vo'o Le'chaper ba'Kodesh Ad Tzeiso"?

1.

Yoma, 44a: The basic Pasuk is referring to when Aharon enters the Kodesh to bring the Ketores. 1 "be'Vo'o Le'chaper incorporates when he enters to sprinkle the blood of the Par and the Sa'ir, and "Ad Tzeisao", when he leaves the Kodesh.

1

Refer to 16:17:1.1:1.

7)

What is the significance of the order "Ve'chiper Ba'ado u've'Ad Beiso u've'Ad Kol K'hal Yisrael"?

1.

Yoma, 44a: It teaches us the order in which the Kaporos must be brought - first the Kohen Gadol himself, 1 then his family, then his fellow-Kohanim and finally the rest of Yisrael.

2.

Horayos, 13a: It teaches us that the Mechaper (the one who is atoning) takes precedence over the Miskaper (the one over whom he is atoning) 2 and that consequently, if the bull of the Kohen Mashu'ach and the bull of the congregation are waiting to be brought, that of the Kohen Mashuach takes precedence. 3

1

See note in answer #2.This doess not however, explain the sequence of family, Kohanim and Yisrael.

2

'Yavo Zakai vi'Yechaper al Chayav.
