What are the many days without "Elokei Emes"?

1.

'Rashi': It is until you (Asa) came 1 .

2.

Radak: It is when [if you will abandon Hashem,] you will be exiled among idolaters (refer to 15:3:2:1,2).

3.

Gra (3-4): It is during the four exiles. "L'Lo Elokei Emes", "ul'Lo Kohen Moreh", "ul'Lo Sorah" and "va'Yashav ba'Tzar Lo" refer to Galus Bavel, Madai 2 , Yavan (who forced Yisrael to write on an ox' horn denial of Toras Moshe), and the final exile (about which it says "ba'Tzar Lecha? b'Acharis ha'Yamim v'Shavta" (Devarim 4:30), respectively.

1

It seems that Malbim agrees. He says that it was many days, until Yisrael repeated. (PF)

2

Hagahah: He did not explain how the first two phrases correspond to the first two exiles.

2)

What is the meaning of "l'Lo Elokei Emes"?

1.

Radak #1: When you are exiled among idolaters, you will be considered idolaters, like "va'Avadtem Sham Elohim [Ma'ase Yedei Adam 1 ]" (Devarim 4:28). Onkelos translates, when you serve those who serve [the idols], it is as if you serve them.

2.

Radak #2: When you are exiled, you will not have true judges. Elohim is like "v'Higisho Adonav El ha'Elokim" (Shemos 21:6), i.e. judges; the Nochrim judge in Chutz la'Aretz.

3.

Malbim: Understanding is through (a) arousal of the intellect, to recognize Elokei Emes via true seeking. Then they cling to his Avodah via investigation of the intellect. (b) arousal of the Torah, which teaches how to serve Him, and the reward and punishment of one who serves or rebels.

4.

Gra #1: Refer to 15:3:1:3.

5.

Gra #2: The verse alludes to three parts of Torah. "L'Lo Elokei Emes" is Alos ha'Bris 2 , "ul'Lo Kohen Moreh" is oral Torah, and "ul'Lo Sorah" is written Torah.

1

Surely 'Acherim' is a printing mistake. Rather, Radak cites the verse in Chumash, for he cites Targum Onkelos! (PF)

2

Hagahah: I do not understand this straightforwardly.

3)

Why was there no "Kohen Moreh"?

1.

'Rashi': No one asked a Torah question.
