What do we learn from "Lema'an Tefos Es Beis Yisrael b'Libam"?

1.

Radak: citing Kidushin 39b-40a: One is punished for thoughts of idolatry as if he served it 1 . This is only for idolatry. It is severe - one who denies idolatry is like one who admits to the entire Torah.

2.

Rashi and Radak citing Targum Yonasan: In order to bring Yisrael close to Teshuvah in their hearts, for they veered from His service and were contaminated through serving idolatry.

3.

Radak: They cover their hearts from Me. I will seize them in their hearts ? I will reveal to them their evil hearts.

4.

Malbim: Until now, all Beis Yisrael departed from Me via their acts of idolatry. Now, these Zekenim want to seize them also in their hearts, that also their thoughts will distance from Hashem. This is why they came to the Navi to argue with him!

1

Radak: Yisrael did not serve idolatry after they were exiled, but since they thought about it, it is considered as if they served it.

What is the meaning of "Nazoru"?

1.

Rashi: This is like "Nezir Echav" (Bereishis 49:26; cut off).

2.

Radak #1: The Nun is from the root. This is Pa'ul conjugation, like "v'Lo Yacholu" (Shemos 8:14). It is separating, like "va'Yinazru mi'Kodshei Bnei Yisrael" (Vayikra 22:2).

3.

Radak #2: It is Nif'al conjugation, from the root Zor ? they were foreign.
