Why does it say "Im Banim v'Im Banos Yatzilu"?
Radak: This refers to minors, like "Oh Ven Yigach Oh Vas Yigach" (Shemos 21:31). They will not save even minors, who have no sin. They will be stricken due to their fathers' sins. Even minor sons of Tzadikim will die ? "Hemah Levadam Yinatzelu." It is enough that [the fathers] save themselves, for they have the sin of living among Resha'im.
Malbim: This is a bigger Chidush ? even if there are many sons and daughters, and it is easier for them to be saved from a Chayah ? a lion does not pounce on two people (Shabbos 151b), even so, only [the fathers] will be saved.
