Radak (3:5, like R. Yehudah in Sanhedrin 18a): She was called Eshes David, for she could not marry anyone else. Only a king may marry a king's widow.

Radak (5:13, citing Sanhedrin 21a): I would add to you [six] like these (David's six wives in Chevron mentioned above) and like these (another six. We learn that a king may marry only 18 wives.)
