What is "Ra'oseichem"?

Malbim: They are evils that come via nature and Ma'arachah (influence of the stars). A king cannot save from these, only from Tzaroseichem (enemies).

What is the meaning of "va'Tomru Lo"?

Radak: It is as if "Lo" has an Aleph - you said 'no, [put a king over us].' Aleph and Vov are interchangeable.

Radak: Yonason translates 'they said in front of Him, 'we are not redeemed; rather, appoint a king.'' He [translated ["Lo" with a Vov, and] added "Lo" with an Aleph. This is like above (8:19), "Lo Ki Melech Yimloch Aleinu."

Why did Shmuel say "Lifnei Hashem"?

Radak: Had he said that Sha'ul will rule, the other tribes would have been jealous. Therefore he was chosen through the Urim v'Tumim. It is possible that they brought the Aron to there.
