'Rashi', Malbim (Melachim I, 12:1): When he was in Egypt, he heard that they were going to Shechem to make Rechav'am king.

Radak (Melachim I, 12:1): Before he returned, he heard that they called for him to come, and he came.

Here it says that they called to Yaravam after he returned from Egypt. In Melachim I, 10:2 it says that they called to him while he was in Egypt!
