וַיְהִי בָּעֵת הַהִוא וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וּפִיכֹל שַׂר צְבָאוֹ אֶל אַבְרָהָם לֵאמֹר אֱ-לֹקִים עִמְּךָ בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה: וְעַתָּה הִשָּׁבְעָה לִּי בֵא-לֹקִים הֵנָּה אִם תִּשְׁקֹר לִי וּלְנִינִי וּלְנֶכְדִּי כַּחֶסֶד אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי עִמְּךָ תַּעֲשֶׂה עִמָּדִי וְעִם הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר גַּרְתָּה בָּהּ: וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אָנֹכִי אִשָּׁבֵעַ: וְהוֹכִחַ אַבְרָהָם אֶת אֲבִימֶלֶךְ עַל אֹדוֹת בְּאֵר הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר גָּזְלוּ עַבְדֵי אֲבִימֶלֶךְ: וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ לֹא יָדַעְתִּי מִי עָשָׂה אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה וְגַם אַתָּה לֹא הִגַּדְתָּ לִּי וְגַם אָנֹכִי לֹא שָׁמַעְתִּי בִּלְתִּי הַיּוֹם: וַיִּקַּח אַבְרָהָם צֹאן וּבָקָר וַיִּתֵּן לַאֲבִימֶלֶךְ וַיִּכְרְתוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם בְּרִית: (בשבת שביעי)

And it is was at that time, that Abimelech and Pichol the captain of his host spoke unto Abraham, saying: 'G-d is with you in all that you do. Now therefore swear unto me here by G-d that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son; but according to the kindness that I have done unto you, you shall do unto me, and to the land wherein you have sojourned.' And Abraham said: 'I will swear.' And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water that Abimelech's servants had violently taken away. And Abimelech said: 'I know not who has done this thing; neither did you tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but today.' And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and they two made a covenant. (On Shabbos, 7th Aliyah)
