FOOTNOTES:
==========
(1) We discuss here only the Kinyanim of Mesirah, Meshichah, and Hagbahah. Of course, in addition to these forms of Kinyan, an animal (both a Behemah Gasah and a Behemah Dakah) can be acquired with Chalipin and Chatzer (like all other Metaltelin), as is clear from our Sugya. So, too, Kinyan Agav (see following Mishnah) can be Koneh an animal.
(2) According to RASHI (DH Niknis) and RABEINU TAM (cited by Tosfos, DH Behemah Gasah), only Mesirah works, and not Meshichah (for it is a weaker Kinyan that Mesirah). According to TOSFOS and the other Rishonim, the opposite is true. Mesirah works and certainly Meshichah works. Regarding making a Kinyan with Hagbahah, Tosfos (ibid.) and most Rishonim assert that Hagbahah is Koneh, because Hagbahah is certainly a stronger form of Kinyan than Meshichah and Mesirah. (See, however, Insights to the Daf, where we discussed Rashi's opinion on this matter in detail.)
(3) According to Rabeinu Tam (as cited above in footnote #2), Meshichah works and certainly Mesirah (and Hagbahah) work. According to Tosfos and the other Rishonim, only Meshichah (and Hagbahah) can be Koneh, but not Mesirah. See Insights.
