 DAF DISCUSSIONS - MAKOS 11
1. Dovid Sommer asks:

Shalom,

Firstly yasher koach for the amazing learning, teaching and resources that you provide.

In Makkos 11b, Abaye teaches that if a rotzeiach dies after the gmar din, his body is still taken to the ir miklat. The source is from the pasuk which makes a drash from "la'Sheves ba'Aretz" where Rashi explains "b'Soch ha'Karka". But isn't that obvious from the continuation of the Gemara?

Thank you and Chazak V'ematz!

Dovid Sommer, Israel

2. The Kollel replies:

Bear in mind that "Eretz" means "land," the word for ground is "Adamah." Consequently, since the Gemara discusses "ba'Aretz" without actually explaining that it means "ba'Adamah," it needs to be said, and that is what Rashi is explaining.

3. Dovid asks:

Shalom Rav Chrysler,

Thank you so much for giving of your time, wisdom and expertise.

What a solid, clear answer! Much appreciated.

Does this apply even though the Gemara will continue in the next line to explain that the reference is to "kevura"?

Tizke l'mitzvos,

Dovid Sommer

4. The Kollel replies:

Thank you for your comment.

I'm afraid I don't understand your question, since the Gemara you quote is part of Abaye's statement.
