The Kollel replies:
The Sefer ha'Chinuch (426) says that the prohibition applies only to a Nochri who worships Avodah Zarah, but a Ger Toshav, a Nochri who keeps the Seven Mitzvos of Bnei Noach may receive presents and praise; see Avodah Zarah 64b. Perhaps Dama was such a person.
