DAF DISCUSSIONS - BERACHOS 33

Noah Fischer asks:

The Gemara on amud aleph says that if one sees an ox they should stop davening. Then it tells us that if we see an ox Tam stay 50 amos away, but if we see an ox Mu'ad to stay out of eye sight. Rashi explains Tam to mean an ox that never gored, but explains a Mu'ad to mean an ox that gored 3 times or more. What about an ox that only gored once or twice? What would the case be in that scenario? Rashi does not discuss those scenarios.

Noah Fischer, NY, USA

The Kollel replies:

Even though Rashi's wording seems misleading, it is obvious that when he describes a Tam as an ox that did not gore at all, he means to include one that has gored once or twice and is not a Mu'ad.
