Rashi explains that in first esek shevua case with two cows, both cows need to die in order to to avoid heilach. However, since there were 3 cows originally don't you have a heilach problem considering one of the cows is still alive?

The Gemara, four lines from the top of 98a, states that in the Reisha there were only 2 cows, not 3.
