DAF DISCUSSIONS - PESACHIM 91

Sholem asks:

If there is a chiyuv to eat the Korbon Pesach in Yerusholayim, what is this got to do with Bomas Yochid and Rabbim? If the 'mokoim' of Yerusholayim is paramount then the whole discussion falls away. If adding the criteria of 'derech rechoikoh' to this, there would not be a chiyuv to bring a Korbon Pesach

The Kollel replies:

The question is what did they do before the Beis Hamikdash was built in Yerushalayim? Tbe Mishnah Megilah 9b states that the only difference between a big Boma and a small Boma is Korban Pesach. Rashi writes that the Mishnah is referring to the period in history when it was permitted to bring korbanos on the Bomos. When the Bomas were in Nov and Givon it was only permitted to offer the korban Pesach there. The entire discussion about Derech Rechokah only applies once the Beis Hamikdash was built in Yerushalayim. From then on, one may only bring korban Pesach in Yerushalayim.

Correction:-

I wrote above that the din of Derech Rechokah only applied once the Beis Hamikdash was built in Yerushalayim. It seems that this is incorrect, since Derech Rechokah is a verse in the Torah which was written several hundred years before the Beis Hamikdash was built in Yerushalayim. What I should have written is that at that time, the din of Derech Rechokah depended on whether one was near enough to come to the public Boma in Nov or Givon, or the Mishkan in Shilo, according to which period one lived in.
