I think there are two posukim in shas that speak about not walking more then 4 amos without learning Torah (or wearing tefillin) I think the Rabbi was Rav Yochonon. Does the Rav possibly recall the location of these (or one) posukim in shas?
Moshe
Try Yoma 086a (where Rebbi Yochanan said it would be a Chilul Hash-m for him to walk four Amos without Torah), and Sukah 028a (where Rebbi Yochanan ben Zakai is said to have never gone four Amos without Torah). Rebbi Zeira makes a similar claim in Taanis 20b and Megilah 28a.
Best wishes,
M. Kornfeld
Thank you, I think there is one missing from Rav Yohoshua ben Karcha, I think but I
don't know where it is. Any thoughts?
Moshe
Sorry, I couldn't find it. Rebbi Yehoshua ben Korchah is mentioned in the Gemara in Megilah 28a referred to above, but it is Rebbi Zeira (who follows his discussion) who makes the statement about not walking without Torah.
Best wishes,
M. Kornfeld
