Hi
The Gemoro says that eiruv chatzeiros must be with bread and shituf mevo'os can be with wine. Rashi explains that eiruv chatzeros merges all of their diros into one and a persons dira is where his bread is. Whereas a shituf mevo'os is just making a partnership between the chatzeros which is not a beis dira, therefore wine/other food is sufficient.
Question: On daf 26b, the mishna says that one can make eiruv techumin with any type of food. Since the purpose of eiruv techumin is to make it like he is living there for shabbos, why are other types of food sufficient? He should need to use bread?
Thanks

Tosfos at the end of the second Perek of Shabbos explains that, although Eiruv Techumin, which has a source min ha'Torah, ought to be more stringent, the Chachamim were more lenient regarding it because it may only be performed for a D'var Mitzvah.
