Dear Rabbi Kornfeld,
The Mishna on Ketubot 64b says one does not give the wife "Shehakim" in the winter, but gives her new clothes in the winter, and she wears their "Bela'ot" in the summer, and the "Shehakim" are hers to keep. It would seem that "Shehakim" are what remains of the "Bela'ot" after the summer.
On 65b the Gemara quotes a beraita:... "Motar Bela'ot LaIsha". It seems that these "Motar Bela'ot" are the equivalent of the "Shehakim" of the Mishna.
Right or wrong?
Right!
