DAF DISCUSSIONS - BAVA BASRA 62

1. Max Alcabes asked:

How can Abaye bring proof from himself?

Max Alcabes, Seattle, Washington

2. The Kollel replies:

You are presumably referring to the Gemara at the top of 63a. When the Gemara says "Savur Minah" (on the last line of 62b), it is not the same as "Ana Savri" which it says above. In the first case, it is Abaye speaking and he is saying what he thought was implied by Rabah's silence.

"Savur Minah" is what others implied from Abaye's question of "Mai Shena." They though that he wanted to treat the two cases equally. To that, the Gemara brings the proof from Abaye's own words that he does not say "Palga" in each case, but rather he says that it depends on whether the person said "Alain Metzranha."
