Hello, I have a general q related to eidus. At what point in the process do the eidim have to be kosher? Or do they have to be kosher at all points?
If two men witness an act while unrelated, and then become related via marriage (to each other or the perpetrator), can they still testify bc they were initially ok?
Same question for the inverse; if they were related at the time of the maaseh, but then not when they come to beis din?
thank you!
A witness must be Kosher both at the time he witnesses the event and at the time that he testifies about it in order for his testimony to be acceptable to Beis Din (Rashi on the Mishnah in Sanhedrin 27b, DH b'Osah Sha'ah, and the Rambam, Hilchos Edus 14:2).
