We would not have known that meat and milk is forbidden at all if not for the Gezeirah Shavah to Tereifah. The Torah could have given a Gezeirah Shavah to something else that is Asur even not in the normal Derech of Hana'ah. We conclude that the Gezeirah Shavah was made to Tereifah to teach that it is Asur only in the normal Derech of Hana'ah.
