 DAF DISCUSSIONS - SANHEDRIN 90
1. Mordechai yusupov asks:

The Maharsha says that Ameich Kulam is teaching you that even the sinners who die after they accept there daled metot that's there kapara and then they get a Cheilek in Olam Ha'Ba, so but nowadays someone who is Chayav in the daled metot how does he get a kapara to get a Chelek in olam haba?

Mordechai yusupov, Queens, New York

2. The Kollel replies:

The Gemara in Sanhedrin 37a says that even in our time when there is no Beis Din, the four Misos Beis Din continue to exist in different forms: A person who deserves Sekilah falls of a cliff (or, in modern times, dies in a car collision), one who deserves Sereifah is burned or bitten by a snake, a person who deserves to die by the sword is executed by the king or by robbers, and one who deserves Chenek drowns or suffers from lung disease.

In these cases, a person could accept his fate and realize it is due to his sins and then he will receive a Kaparah.

The Chida in Petach Eynayim adds that the verse is also referring to another way to receive atonement and this is through Gilgul, since it says "Netzer Mata'ai" -- "the branch which I have planted" -- in the plural, implying that there were a number of different plantings of the same branch. Thus, even in our time a person can receive atonement by being forced to descend to the world and suffer for previous incarnations.
