DAF DISCUSSIONS - GITIN 62

Shlomo Lieberman asks:

We prove from the mishna that there is someone (either man or woman) who can be both shliach l'holacha and l'kabala. We say that this is the man because he can accept his daughter's get. But maybe it is the woman, as we later prove from a mishna in the second perek that a woman can be a shliach l'holacha. If that is true, then we no longer have a proof that a man can be a shliach l'kabala.

Shlomo Lieberman, Houston, Texas, USA

The Kollel replies:

We never said that only either a man or a woman can be Shali'ach both l'Holachah and l'Kabalah. It was always possible that both a man and a woman could be both types of Shali'ach. It follows that even though we later proved from the Mishnah in the second Perek that a woman can be a Shali'ach l'Holachah, this does not in any way affect what we proved before that a man can be a Shali'ach l'Kabalah.
