If I understood correctly, you are asking how a person can lie or sit on an object without touching it.
The answer is that if one is wearing clothes and lying on a mattress, or if he is lying on top of a pile of mattresses, all of the mattresses underneath him are Tamei Midras even though his skin did not touch them (because the clothes separated between him and the mattress, or because the mattresses on top separated between him and the lower mattresses).
