I have seen the gemara in sotah and sanhedrin about the left hand pushing away a student and the right bringing him close, often I hear people saying that the left hand is din and right chesed, the right is stronger, more chesed than din, is there a source for that interperetation with chesed and din or is it just a famous general pshat from people today.

The Maharsha in Sanhedrin (107b) gives this explanation. The Iyun Yakov in Sotah (47b) puts an emphasis on the left being the weaker hand, meaning that the push should be light and the bringing close should be strong. Many other explanations are given as well (see Eitz Yosef in Sotah ibid.).
All the best,
