DAF DISCUSSIONS - SHABBOS 37

Dov Lew asked:

Why does Rashi (d.h. Mahu Lismoch) tell us that a Kirah is movable? Why is this relevant? Can't Semicha be done to a Kirah that is not movable as well?

The Kollel replies:

The Rambam in Pirush Hamishnayos describes a Kirah as being built into the ground. In order to be able to do Semichah with it, perhaps it must be a movable Kirah for the sides to be above the ground.
