from what i understand, there were 24 mishmerot and each mishmeret had ma'amadot.
What is not clear to me:
How long did each ma'amad last?
Would a ma'amad be for 1 time per year per Mishmeret?
Would Cohanim - at the time of the Bayis - be Nosei Capayim 4 times a day, each day of the mishmar that it was permitted?
If this is so, then the 3 perakim of the mishna - is really every week, except for weeks of the chagim?
Also, (I'm sure I missed this) - what about Rosh Chodesh?

Each Ma'amad, like the Mishmar, lasted one week. This means that, assuming the same people formed a Ma'amad on a regular basis -like the Mishmaros (I'm not sure that this was the case) - then there was a rota system of once every twenty-four weeks.
I don't understand your question concerning the Kohanim. The Kohanim Duchened every Shachris, Musaf and Ne'ilah. If there is still a problem please let me know - but word your question differently.
