On your daf in section 2 you write the Rambam says it is possible to the the moon both at sunrise and sunset on the same day. I wonder if you meant Rashi? As you quote later in the paragraph: "It is interesting to note that in Perush ha'Mishnayos, the Rambam ridicules this suggestion and asserts that anyone familiar with astronomy knows that the testimony described in the Mishnah is absolutely impossible." So you are quoting the Rambam as contradicting himself.
Tom Rosenfeld, Efrat, Israel
The Rambam is known to have changed his opinion about numerous issues in the course of his lifetime, and this is reflected in his writings. Therefore, it is hardly surprising to discover a discrepency between what he says in his Perush on the Gemara in Rosh Hashanah, and in his Perush ha'Mishnayos on Rosh Hashanah. We wished to highlight this apparent contradiction in the Insights, and thus we inserted a parenthetical remark about the Rambam's differing opinion in Perush ha'Mishnayos."
Unlike the Rambam, the generally held opinion is that the Ramban was consistent throughout his works.
