DAF DISCUSSIONS - SOTAH 23

ike sultan asked:

In Sotah 23a says what do we do with mincha of a women married to kohen? The remnants can't be burnt unless you go like Rabbi Eliezer but for the rabbis they can resolve this case by scattering the remnant in the bet ha'sherefa. However in yoma 47b it doesn't suggest this option for the rabbis and is left to ultimately force the rabbis to say that case must be avoided. Why didn't the gemara answer similarly?[the only answer the gemara yoma 47b gave was to allow a cohen who won't have the problem of having flour stuck between his fingers-why didn't the gemara use the answer of sotah23a?]

The Kollel replies:

The problem of the Gemara in Yoma involves a Safek as to whether certain parts of the Minchah are considered to be part of the Kometz or not. We cannot be Maktir these parts according to the Rabanan, and if we pour them on the Beis ha'Deshen then the person bringing the Minchah will not have fulfilled his obligation, if this flour is really part of the Kometz.

The Gemara in Sotah on the other hand does not involve a problem with the Kometz and therefore whatever happens to the rest of the Minchah after the Haktarah of the Kometz will not affect the fact that the woman bringing the Minchah has fulfilled her obligation. Therefore we can pour the remains of the Minchah on the Beis ha'Deshen.
